  • Headmaster Announcement / Period Bell
  • Industrial Public Address / Staff Call / Time Signal
  • Background Music
  • Sound Re-enforcement
  • Classroom Sound field Systems
  • Conference / Discussion Systems
  • Hazard Warning Systems
  • Entertainment Systems
  • Noise Masking

We provide a full system design, installation, commissioning, after sales service and maintenance service for all types of sound related systems including those detailed above.

Over the years we have developed a very strong working relationship with most major M&E consulting practices. We are often involved at initial concept stage to assist with the design and cost proposal. This service is provided free of charge and is available to anyone. Our company is engineering based and our design team is well respected within the industry. Building Schools for the Future

Since 2005 we have been heavily involved with provision of various sound related systems for new schools and refurbishments throughout the country. We have worked in conjunction with several local authorities and major building companies to provide turnkey solutions for the programme. The systems have been developed to comply with the specific client requirements that vary from region to region. Numerous systems have been installed in Primary, Secondary and Joint Campus schools with several more currently in the pipeline. We understand the clients requirements and have the proven ability to readily adapt to their changing needs. A typical Secondary School will be provided with the following range of facilities:

  • Headmasters Announcement / Period Change Time Signal
  • Main Hall Sound Reinforcement
  • Drama Studio Sound System
  • Individual Classroom Soundfield Systems
  • Portable Playing Field / External Sound System
  • Hearing Assistance Systems – Conventional Induction Loop and Infra-red.
  • AV Systems with Projectors and Screens
  • Master Clock Systems

Goodrich Corporation – Prestwick – Ayrshire

The US firm Goodrich is a global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace industry with a maintenance facility near Prestwick Airport in Scotland.

Towards the end of 2007 the company announced that it planned to more than double the size of its factory from 120,000 to 250,000 sq. ft. When the facility was built in 1996 a very basic PA System was installed by another company. The main factory area was a hostile acoustic environment and the ambient noise level within the space varied considerably depending on the processes taking place at any given time. The existing PA system was of very poor quality and it was accepted that a replacement would be required during the expansion.

We were contacted by the M&E consultants and given a brief to design a system that would provide good quality intelligible speech throughout the complex. An acoustic survey was carried out and a system was designed using EASE modelling to predict SPL and intelligibility results. A complete new Audio Control Rack with digital signal routing matrix, graphic equalisers and multi-channel power amplifiers was included.

Loudspeaker coverage for the main production area was provided by clusters of projector cylinder loudspeakers distributed in a uniform matrix throughout the facility. Ambient Noise Sensing (ANS) was included on a zonal basis to raise the output level during noisy periods when grinding or riveting was taking place.

The design proposal was accepted by the client and the system was completed on time and within budget. The client is delighted with the results.

Manchester United FC

During the recent upgrade of the stadium to increase crowd capacity some additional function suites were added to cope with the demand for hospitality packages. We were approached by Peter Mapp who is retained by the club as their acoustic consultant to develop sophisticated local systems that could be used within all function suites within the stadium.

The brief was that the system had to be user friendly, good quality, reliable, flexible and cost effective. The system had to include Radio Microphones, Music Source and Remote Input Panels with volume controls and source selection.

Our design was based around the TOA-D901 Digital Mixer with Sennheiser Radio microphones and a computer based Background Music System with music specifically tailored for each function suite.

To date 14 Function Suites have been fitted and a similar solution has been provided for the Press Conference Room.

Renfrewshire Council Headquarters

A few years ago we were commissioned by Renfrewshire Council to supply and install a Digital Conference System with voting facilities within their main Council Chamber in Paisley; a Bosch Consentus DCN System was provided.

The Council Headquarters moved to a new building on the same site during 2008 and we were asked to transfer the system to the new council chambers.

In Addition we also provided a full PAVA System for the new building to comply with the requirements of BS-EN60849. The system is used for staff announcements and emergency evacuation purposes.

Glasgow Science Centre

The Glasgow Science Centre which sits close to the new BBC Scotland HQ on the banks of the River Clyde is one of Scotland's leading tourist attractions.

It is run by an independent Scottish charity dedicated to raising awareness of Science and Technology. It is a treasure trove of science education and entertainment. The science mall is home to three floors filled with hundreds of interactive exhibits, a dedicated science show theatre and the Scottish Power Planetarium where you can learn about the wonders of the night sky under the glittering dome.

The tower at the Glasgow Science Centre is the world's first tower capable of revolving through 360 deg. From the ground up. The tower stands at over 122m in height and the viewing platform at the top can give views of up to 40 miles north and south.

T. G. Baker (Sound) Ltd provided PA/VA systems for both of the above.
