Founded in 1867, Chesterfield Football Club is one of England's oldest professional football clubs and has long been at the heart of its local community. As part of an investment in improving the matchday experience and ensuring the stadium continued to meet modern safety standards, the club sought a replacement for its ageing Public Address and Voice Alarm system (PAVA).

Advise

Following a recommendation from an existing client, TG Baker carried out a detailed survey of the stadium and its existing systems. The ageing public address system no longer delivered the audio quality, flexibility or reliability required for a modern football stadium, particularly where clear communication and public safety are essential. Working closely with the club, we developed a solution that would enhance the supporter experience while ensuring full compliance with current life safety standards.

Plan

A fully compliant Public Address and Voice Alarm system was designed to provide high-quality matchday audio, emergency communications, flexible zoning and straightforward day-to-day operation. Wherever practical, the new installation was designed to integrate with existing infrastructure while improving long-term reliability, resilience and ease of maintenance. The system also incorporated battery-backed amplifiers to ensure continued operation in the event of a power failure, removing the need for more complex backup arrangements.

Deliver

We completed the installation, integration and commissioning of the new stadium-wide PAVA system. This included the design and assembly of bespoke control equipment, installation of JBL loudspeakers throughout each stand, new paging stations for match control and stadium announcers, emergency communication facilities and upgraded DJ equipment.

Every element was carefully integrated to deliver clear announcements, high-quality audio and intuitive operation on both matchdays and during day-to-day stadium activities.

Support

Following installation, TG Baker provided full testing, commissioning and operator training, together with comprehensive operation and maintenance documentation. Chesterfield FC also benefits from an ongoing planned maintenance programme, helping ensure the system continues to perform reliably while remaining fully compliant and ready whenever it is needed.
