Home to Wolverhampton Wanderers since 1889, Molineux combines a rich footballing history with a demanding matchday programme. TG Baker upgraded the stadium’s public address and voice alarm provision, improving entertainment audio while maintaining the priority of safety announcements.
Advise
The existing sound system was 24 years old and struggling to deliver the clarity and impact the club wanted for music, pitchside interviews and pre-match entertainment. We explored options that could improve performance within the available budget, arranging an on-pitch comparison of five loudspeaker systems using the club’s own matchday music. The club’s listening panel unanimously selected the NEXO PS15-R2.
Plan
We modelled the system using NEXO’s NS-1 software, developing a design for three stands while retaining the existing audio provision in the recently rebuilt Stan Cullis Stand. The selected loudspeakers provided the coverage and bass response required without separate subwoofers. Zoned control would allow operators to adjust entertainment levels across different seating areas without affecting safety announcements.
Deliver
We installed 34 NEXO PS15-R2 loudspeakers, powered by six NXAMP4x4 amplifiers across three locations. Programme audio is distributed over a Dante network, with routing controlled from the DJ studio. The voice alarm system operates through its own monitored network and takes automatic priority over entertainment audio. Dedicated amplifier firmware supports loudspeaker line monitoring and fault reporting to the voice alarm system.
Support
Independent zone control gives the stadium team flexibility to manage sound levels for different audiences and occupancy levels. Automatic voice alarm priority and fault monitoring support the system’s safety role. Following the upgrade, the club reported a more professional entertainment programme and supporters arriving earlier to enjoy the pre-match build-up.
