Rosyth Naval Dockyard is a major naval engineering site on the Firth of Forth. TG Baker replaced ageing control equipment for its Nuclear Broadcast System, providing a fully monitored, networked public address solution with comprehensive announcement and fault management facilities.
Advise
The existing Nuclear Broadcast System control equipment was approaching the end of its expected service life. The requirement was to replace this equipment with a solution that supported the dockyard’s broadcast needs and gave operators clear control over announcements and visibility of system faults.
Plan
We selected a Baldwin Boxall networked public address system, bringing broadcast controls together through touchscreen paging interfaces. The solution combined zone selection and emergency message activation with facilities for recording and scheduling messages, allowing operators to manage different broadcast requirements from a common interface.
Deliver
We provided the replacement control equipment as part of a fully monitored system. Touchscreen controls give operators access to paging zones, emergency messages, message recording and scheduling. Integrated fault indication and logging provide visibility of system issues and a record to support investigation.
Support
The system’s monitoring and fault log support ongoing fault identification and diagnosis. For day-to-day operation, touchscreen zone selection and message controls give staff direct access to the broadcast functions they need, while scheduled messages support planned communications across the site.
